As well as talks to adult groups, school and youth group visits, workshops, and courses for professionals, we provide a small range of other educational resources.
Our visits to schools (Key Stages 1 and 2) and the environmental education provided are based around the ‘Wings of Change' - a story about a farm from 1945 to 2000 - how and why it changed - and the effect of those changes on wildlife (using the Barn Owl as an example).
Schools beyond SW England can access this unique resource by using our Schools Pack and DVD or VHS video. Described by The Times Educational Supplement, as "environmental education at it's very best".
We provide Barn Owl pellets by post to schools, colleges and universities (when available). Pellet analysis is educational and fun for children, and, at the same time a serious scientific study for adults! Due to the never-ending popularity of pellet analysis there's almost certainly more known about Barn Owl diet in the UK than any other species anywhere in the world!
We occasionally provide work experience placements for college students from local schools, sandwich year placements for degree students and project ideas for those in their final year. We have even part-funded a PhD into the study of Barn Owl habitat requirements and landscape suitability!!
On occasion there are also opportunities to gain knowledge and experience as part of our team. Keep an eye on our ‘Jobs and Volunteering' section.
We have a books and booklets available from our online shop and free information leaflets by post (or download from this website). In fact, with around 40 leaflet downloads, 80 pages, and 70 slideshows, THIS is our biggest educational resource! And it's free..
We'd be delighted to receive a donation for it too!
