Adopt a Barn Owl

Our sanctuary in South Devon is home to many Barn Owls. Fortunately a lot of the wild Barn Owls that come here recover sufficiently to be released back into their natural habitat. Other birds are unable to survive in the wild mainly as a result of road traffic accidents or injuries sustained from barbed wire fences and overhead cables.
We also care for captive-bred birds that are too tame to be released. Many have been discarded - some have just been left to starve to death. Individual Barn Owls can live for 10, 15, or even 20 years in captivity.
Sanctuary
We house these birds in large aviaries, provide them with food, shelter, medical attention if required and a quiet life. A year's adoption costs less than 60p per week - but to the Barn Owl, your help is priceless.
We are sorry, but you cannot visit the sanctuary as it is on private land with no public access. It is a place of peace and refuge for the owls, and disturbance is kept to an absolute minimum. Although we do not have a visitor centre, you can volunteer your help if you live in or are visiting the area. We are always looking for people to clean the aviaries, help with survey work, shake a collecting tin and so on. We also have volunteer activity days such as the Hedge Coppicing event and Bracken Bashing, please keep your eye on the forthcoming events listings for details.
